It is however, often associated with Eastern spirituality, but Meditation purely secular applications have been increasingly explored in settings as varied as the workplace, correctional facilities, and educational institutions. However, formal education can be challenging and stressful for all students. Students at every level elementary school, middle school, high school, undergraduate universities and colleges, and graduate and professional studies face similar challenges to learning and being a part of an institution of learning. While educational institutions can be settings where wondrous learning and growth can occur, they can also play host to negative internal states such as anxiety, isolation, and depression that may not only decrease a person’s learning experience but may also lead to behaviors like violence and bullying. Educators must focus on academic outcomes and classroom material but can also promote new non-academic curriculum to create a better learning environment. Mindfulness training can be valuable for helping students be more successful learners and more connected members of an educational community.

In the modern world today, functional education provides the basic instrument for gainful employment, personality progress, economic prosperity, and development moral built up, and positive interpersonal relationships; while lack of its signifies ignorance, underdevelopment, maladjustment, crime, poverty, frustration, among others. Meditation has been utilized for improvement of health and well-being although the effects have been found to be inconsistent. There is some evidence accumulating in literature that meditation could positively influence memory and help medical students in reducing stress. All these observed effects could be important for improving learning process. Some meditation techniques require intensive training and longer duration; hence cannot be practiced into the regular classroom teaching. However, there are some simpler techniques that could be incorporated in the classroom environment just before a learning session to help students reduce distractions and focus on the learning sessions.
Meditation is helpful in the moment of learning and also in more future-focused skills. By maintaining a calmer view of the present, students are able to improve their study habits, planning, and organizational skills through meditation. However, given that meditation benefits a wide variety of cognitive processes in both the short and long term, educators worldwide have begun to utilize meditation as a learning tool for students across a wide variety of age and education levels.
Introducing meditation in the classroom also produces other student benefits beyond grade increases, including greater student interest in topics related to meditation, mindfulness, and self-regulation, and greater understanding.

In conclusion, meditation and the use of instructional materials have beneficial effects on students’ performance and also other factors like relaxation, improved memorization and attention. It makes the learning environment fun filled and productive.
