Ich przyjaźń trwała ponad 50 lat. Mimo że rywalizowali na zawodach, to nie przeszkodziło im to w zawarciu mocnej relacji.

Schwarzenegger nie ukrywa, że Columbu odegrał ogromną rolę w jego życiu sportowym. Włoski kulturysta dawał mu cenne wskazówki dotyczące treningów i diety.

"Rywalizowaliśmy ze sobą i śmialiśmy się na każdym kroku naszej wspólnej drogi. Kiedy w końcu dotarłem do Ameryki, byłem sam. Porzuciłem rodzinę, kraj, całe moje życie. Więc kiedy poprosiłem Joe Weidera, żeby zabrał cię na mój trening, to dlatego, że wiedziałem, że nic nie jest takie samo bez najlepszego przyjaciela u mojego boku. Mógłbym prosperować bez pieniędzy, bez rodziców, ale nie mógłbym prosperować bez ciebie" - napisał na Instagramie Schwarzenegger.

Franco, You’ve heard me say that I don’t like when people call me a self-made man. You’ve even heard me say that you’re part of the reason I could never accept that label.
